Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety

Our treatment of anxiety focuses on teaching our clients tools and strategies with the strongest evidence for effectiveness in relieving symptoms. We use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to treat a range of anxiety-related issues including Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety, OCD, Obsessive Worry, Health Anxiety, and Fears and Phobias. These treatments serve to alter patterns of thinking and behaving that reinforce anxious feelings.

EMDR

Many of us find that our emotional reactions in the present are caused by feeling "stuck" in the past. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that is used to heal from the distress caused by disturbing life experiences. EMDR is considered the 'Gold Standard' in the treatment Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). A study conducted by Kaiser Permanente found that 100% of the single-trauma victims and 77% of multiple trauma victims no longer were diagnosed with PTSD after only six 50-minute EMDR sessions.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a brain-body based therapy. “Where you look affects how you feel.” Brainspotting locates points in the client’s visual field that help to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain. Talk therapy engages the neocortex—our thinking, conscious brain—while somatic therapy (e.g. Brainspotting) accesses the subcortical system where trauma and distress is often stored. Brain-body based therapy is the fastest-growing field of trauma treatment because of its proven ability to rapidly address issues that traditional talk therapy takes longer to resolve.

Brainspotting has shown effectiveness with issues such as:

  • Trauma

  • Anxiety

  • Depression.

  • Grief

  • Addiction and Compulsive Behaviors

  • Performance and Creativity Blocks

  • Pain

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT)

Most of us have been taught from the time we are born that physical pain is caused by a physical injury. It makes perfect sense. But a growing body of research in the field of medicine and neuroscience is showing that a large percentage of pain we attribute to injury and illness is actually being generated by our brain. Our team has trained with Alan Gordon, a leading expert and researcher in the field on chronic pain, and developer of a cutting-edge, evidence-based treatment for Chronic Pain relief called Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT).
